 APPLICANT’S CRITERIA

• Hold a qualification of doctoral degree (PhD) or at least a completion confirmation letter by Senate.
• Possess academic merit and excellent research output of at least two (2) publications in ISI Web of Science (for candidates in scientific field) or Scopus (for candidates in non-scientific field) in the last three (3) years.
• USM International students (currently in Malaysia) who are prolific in writing and have completed their doctoral degree (PhD) are encouraged to apply.
• Research Areas:
  ■ Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
  ■ Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP)
  ■ Reverse Engineering (RE)
  ■ Product Design & Development (PDD)

SUPERVISOR’S CRITERIA

• Must be supervised by Dr Salman (Click Here)

RESEARCH PLAN

• Has the impact towards existing research fields in USM
• Has minimum TWO combinations of excellent skill in these Research Scopes:
  ■ Solid Modelling / Surface Modelling / Feature Modelling
  ■ 3D Scanning
  ■ 3D Printing / Rapid Prototyping
  ■ Additive Manufacturing / Subtractive Manufacturing
  ■ Wire Cut EDM
  ■ CNC 3/4/5/+/-Axis Machining
  ■ CNC Lathe / CNC Milling
  ■ Design / Product Design / Tooling Design / System Design
  ■ CAD: SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.
  ■ CAM: MasterCAM, CAM, etc.
  ■ Advanced Manufacturing Technology
  ■ Mould / Die
  ■ Computer Programming (would be an advantage)

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

• Funding from USM allocation
• Honorarium of RM6,173.47 per month
• No increment for re-appointment of candidate
• No airfare allowances provided

DURATION

• Appointment is for one (1) year
• Re-appointment shall be based on performance and recommendation from the respective School/Centre
• Maximum appointment is for two (2) years
